The beautiful entry system is called
"The Grandview"

The panels are bookmatched
Old Growth Curly Redwood

These are the top bookmatched panels
which are Old Growth Curly Redwood
Here is a view of all of the
door panels
Here is one sidelight panel
..... and here is a view of the
other sidelight panel

The mortise pins are true
Brazilian Rosewood
Notice the ribbon grain Mahogany
Here we turned the mortise pins
turned as a diamond
I think the Redwood panels go very well
with the exception Mahogany Ribbon grain

Here is the rough sided home with a drawing of
The Grandview
Here is an overlay of the completed entry

Here is the history of the creation of

Here is all of the rough lumber for the door and sidelights
Here is that same wood after it has been joined straight and planed to 1-3/4" thick
Here are the continuous pieced to the top ~ mid ~ and bottom "heel". I will the cut the sidelights out of each end
Then I "dry fit" all of the vertical pieces to fit perfectly

106
107
108
109
And then I lay out the "tapered" vertical mid-rail
Here is the door just glued and clamped
All excess glue has been wiped off and then we "toothbrush" the corners of all glue
Here the door will cure in clamps for at
least a full 3 days ....... that is the "right way"

Here are the pieces to the sidelights soon to be assembled and glued
........ and here the sidelights will cure for at least 72 hours
Then the hand sanding of all the chamfered molded edge begins
and on the 2 sidelights also

120
121
after everything is sanded we oil it with 4 coats of varnish oil ...... here is the 1st coat
here is the first coat on the sidelight
....... and the second coat of the door
Everything cures at least 3 days between
coats so that the varnish oil can harden
under the surface

Here is a close-up of the square mortise pins on the bottom of the door
In the mid-rails I turned them to diamonds
My panels have a core of Marine Grade ply
This is to insure that the panels are stable
Then edged with Redwood
